Deployment

Same Keystone product. Your choice where it runs.

Keystone is being designed for managed and self-hosted deployment. Supported self-hosting platforms will be published as qualification completes.

It is the same software and the same perpetual licence either way, and you can change your mind later. Neither option can be installed today. This page says what each one is, what status it carries, and what is still undecided.

Two ways to run it

Managed or self-hosted.

  • Planned

    Keystone Managed

Keystone Managed will be an optional recurring hosting and operations service, in which Alresford runs your installation for you. It is planned and is not available yet. The software licence remains perpetual.

  • Under qualification

    Self-hosted

You run Keystone on infrastructure you control. It cannot be installed yet, and no platform is named as supported until its qualification is complete.

Self-hosted

On infrastructure you control.

Under qualification

Your licence includes the right to run Keystone on your own infrastructure. There is no installer yet, so nobody can self-host Keystone today.

Supported platforms

No platform is listed yet. We name no operating system or virtualisation platform as supported until its qualification is complete.

Keystone Managed

Run for you, by us.

Planned

Keystone Managed will be an optional recurring hosting and operations service, in which Alresford hosts and operates your installation. The software licence remains perpetual.

Keystone Managed is planned and is not available yet. It is intended to include:

  • Hosting and infrastructure
  • Monitoring
  • Backups
  • Patching
  • Upgrades
  • Certificates
  • Operational support
  • Software maintenance

Software maintenance is part of the intended service, so a Keystone Managed customer would not also pay the optional maintenance charge.

This is the intended scope, not a service description. Keystone Managed pricing is not published yet, and we will quote for it separately. We publish no service level, no hosting provider and no data location for it yet.

Whichever you choose

What stays the same.

  • You can move between them

You can move from managed to self-hosted, or the other way, without buying the software again.

  • One installation each

Each organisation has its own installation. Keystone is not a shared multi-tenant service, whoever runs it.

  • The same licence

Your perpetual licence does not expire. Keystone Managed would be a service on top of it, not a different way of buying the software.

Not decided yet

What we cannot tell you yet.

These are open. We would rather say so than fill the gap with a promise.

  • Supported platforms

Which operating systems and virtualisation platforms are supported for self-hosting. They will be published as qualification completes.

  • Hosting provider

Who hosts Keystone Managed, and where data is held. No provider has been chosen.

  • Service levels

Availability, response and recovery commitments for Keystone Managed. None is published.

  • Backup and recovery tooling

Point-in-time recovery is part of the design and is rehearsed on test data in our pipeline. The tooling you would use is not built yet.

  • The price of Keystone Managed

Keystone Managed pricing is not published yet. We will quote for it separately.

  • When you can try it

Evaluations will open once the evaluation build has been accepted. Until then we take expressions of interest.

Decide where it runs later.

The licence price is the same however you run Keystone. Work it out, or tell us which way you are leaning.
